Introduction to ChatGPT
ChatGPT is a pre-trained large language model developed by OpenAI that is capable of high-quality AI conversation. It can automatically generate reasonable responses based on context, and in many cases, the user may not be able to tell whether the response was given by a human or an AI.
The current popularity of ChatGPT is due to its excellent language understanding ability, which enables it to quickly generate responses in human language and meet the user’s need for real-time conversation. In addition, ChatGPT can learn the user’s language style and express itself appropriately in different situations, which makes it effective in a variety of applications.
Many people simply see ChatGPT as a chat tool or game, but it is actually a pre-trained large language model that was trained on a massive amount of corpus data containing a wealth of real-world knowledge, which was absorbed by the AI to store a vast amount of knowledge within ChatGPT. Therefore, ChatGPT can be used for a variety of practical tasks in life and work, not just as a simple chat tool or game.

How to Use ChatGPT
Using ChatGPT is very simple and only requires the following steps:
- Visit ChatGPT’s official website and follow the prompts to register and log in.
- Enter the main interface of ChatGPT and select the “Conversation” option from the menu on the left.
- In the main interface text box, enter the question you want to ask and then click the “Send” button.
- ChatGPT will return a response to your question based on its internal knowledge and context, and you can continue the conversation by asking follow-up questions.
You just need to ask the right questions and provide prompts, and ChatGPT will be able to serve you. Below, I have provided many examples for your reference.
What can ChatGPT do for writers
In fact, as long as you need it, it can even write independently.
For example, I entered the following prompt and got the following story:
Prompt:
Write a story about Snow White and Bruce Lee
Result:
Once upon a time in a far-off land, there was a beautiful princess named Snow White. She had skin as white as snow, lips as red as rose petals, and hair as black as coal. Snow White lived in a magnificent castle with her stepmother, the queen, who was jealous of Snow White’s beauty and constantly plotted to kill her.
One day, while Snow White was out picking berries in the forest, she stumbled upon a small, secluded cottage. She knocked on the door and was greeted by a kind old man who invited her inside. Snow White soon discovered that the old man was actually a master of the martial art of kung fu, and he offered to train her in the ways of self-defense.
Snow White eagerly accepted the old man’s offer and began her training. She proved to be a quick learner and soon became an expert in kung fu. She even surpassed her teacher and became known as the “Snow White Dragon,” a fierce and formidable fighter.
Meanwhile, the queen learned of Snow White’s kung fu abilities and became even more determined to eliminate her once and for all. She hired a skilled assassin named Bruce Lee to eliminate Snow White, but little did she know that Bruce Lee was secretly a loyal ally of Snow White.
When Bruce Lee arrived at the castle to carry out the queen’s orders, he instead warned Snow White of the danger and offered to help her defeat the queen and her evil plans. Snow White accepted Bruce Lee’s help and the two of them fought side by side to defeat the queen and her army of henchmen.
In the end, Snow White and Bruce Lee emerged victorious and the kingdom was saved. Snow White and Bruce Lee became known as the greatest warriors in all the land, and they lived happily ever after.
This type of usage has many variations, and your prompts can be used to add various constraints. ChatGPT can generate a story based on your requirements. We found that it knows the backgrounds of Snow White and Bruce Lee, and the plot is consistent with their respective backgrounds, so it sounds more credible and interesting.
However, I think the pure use of ChatGPT to generate the entire story is just a fun way to play, but not a truly meaningful use. In fact, there are many ways we can use it. Let’s discuss them one by one.
Title Master: A Tool for Generating Attractive Titles
Many people struggle with coming up with engaging titles for their articles. I, for example, tend to choose simple, straightforward titles that lack appeal. However, with the vast amount of content available in ChatGPT’s corpus, you can even ask it to help you generate titles for your articles. For example,
Prompt:
Given the existing title “Writing a good article requires reading a lot of books, and reading a lot of books can help you write a good article,” can you suggest a more attractive title?
Result:
Here are a few suggestions for a more attractive title for the given prompt:
- “Become a Better Writer by Reading More Books: The Importance of Reading for Writing Success”
- “Unleash Your Inner Writer: How Reading Can Help You Write Better Articles”
- “Read More, Write More: The Surprising Link Between Reading and Writing”
- “The Key to Writing Great Articles: A Love of Reading and the Desire to Learn”
- “Transform Your Writing: The Power of Reading to Enhance Your Writing Skills”
I hope these titles will inspire you and help your articles get more readers.
As you can see, ChatGPT not only suggests good titles, but it also understands the potential benefits of having a catchy title.
Polishing your words
As an example, here is a sentence from one of my past articles:
Today, I am reminded of the countless things I want to do but never seem to have enough time for. Once I fall into a depressed state, I am unable to accomplish anything and find no joy in anything.
I can ask ChatGPT to help me polish this passage by suggesting ways to improve it.
Prompt:
Polish my words Today, I am reminded of the countless things I want to do but never seem to have enough time for. Once I fall into a depressed state, I am unable to accomplish anything and find no joy in anything.
Result:
I am feeling overwhelmed by the many things on my to-do list, and I find it hard to break out of this cycle of feeling down and unproductive. I want to find a way to prioritize my tasks and focus on what is truly important to me, so that I can find fulfillment and happiness in the things I do. I know that with some effort and determination, I can overcome these feelings of inadequacy and frustration, and move forward with purpose and direction.
If more prompt information is provided and the requirements are more complex, it is better to polish the words as follows:
Prompt:
Polish and expand on this paragraph by adding some examples and quotes. Today, I am reminded of the countless things I want to do but never seem to have enough time for. Once I fall into a depressed state, I am unable to accomplish anything and find no joy in anything.
Result:
Today, I am feeling overwhelmed by all the things I want to do but never seem to have enough time for. I often fall into a depressed state, where I am unable to accomplish anything and find no joy in anything. For example, I have always wanted to learn a new language, but I never seem to have the time to dedicate to it. I also have a long list of hobbies and passions that I have been neglecting, such as painting and writing, because I am too focused on my work and responsibilities.
It can be difficult to break out of this cycle of feeling down and unproductive. However, I know that it is important to make time for the things that make me happy and to prioritize my well-being and personal growth. As the famous quote by Lao Tzu goes, “If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.” I need to take action and make conscious choices to improve my mood and fulfill my desires, rather than letting myself become trapped in a cycle of sadness and unfulfilled dreams.
One way to do this is to prioritize my tasks and focus on what is truly important to me. This may mean saying no to some things and letting go of unimportant tasks and obligations. It may also mean setting aside dedicated time for the things that I am passionate about, such as language learning or writing. By doing this, I can find fulfillment and happiness in the things I do, and move forward with purpose and direction.
Summarizing materials
ChatGPT not only provides text expansion, refinement, and rewriting, but it can also help you summarize the materials you find, making it easier for you to quickly understand or quote in an article.
Prompt:
Rewrite the following passage into a summary of 100 words or less:
OpenAI is an artificial intelligence (AI) research laboratory consisting of the for-profit corporation OpenAI LP and its parent company, the non-profit OpenAI Inc. The company conducts research in the field of AI with the stated goal of promoting and developing friendly AI in a way that benefits humanity as a whole. The organization was founded in San Francisco in late 2015 by Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and others, who collectively pledged US$1 billion. Musk resigned from the board in February 2018 but remained a donor. In 2019, OpenAI LP received a US$1 billion investment from Microsoft. In December 2015, Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and other investors announced the formation of OpenAI and pledged over US$1 billion to the venture. The organization stated it would “freely collaborate” with other institutions and researchers by making its patents and research open to the public.[3][4] On April 27, 2016, OpenAI released a public beta of “OpenAI Gym”, its platform for reinforcement learning research.[5] On December 5, 2016, OpenAI released “Universe”, a software platform for measuring and training an AI’s general intelligence across the world’s supply of games, websites and other applications.[6][7][8][9] On February 21, 2018, Musk resigned his board seat, citing “a potential future conflict (of interest)” with Tesla AI development for self driving cars, but remained a donor.[10] In 2019, OpenAI transitioned from non-profit to “capped” for-profit, with profit cap set to 100X on any investment. The company distributed equity to its employees[11] and partnered with Microsoft Corporation, who announced an investment package of US$1 billion into the company. OpenAI then announced its intention to commercially license its technologies, with Microsoft as its preferred partner.[12] As of 2020, OpenAI is headquartered in San Francisco’s Mission District, and shares the former Pioneer Trunk Factory building with Neuralink, another company co-founded by Musk.[13][2] In June 2020, OpenAI announced GPT-3, a language model trained on trillions of words from the Internet. It also announced that an associated API, named simply “the API”, would form the heart of its first commercial product. GPT-3 is aimed at natural language answering of questions, but it can also translate between languages and coherently generate improvized text.[14] In January 2021, OpenAI introduced DALL-E. One year later, their newest system, DALL·E 2, generates more realistic and accurate images with 4x greater resolution. In November 2022, OpenAI released a preview of ChatGPT which interacts using conversation to the general public.[15]

Because it is an intelligent summary, some formatting information, [number] and so on, contained in the original text are not bothered about, and are automatically removed.
Proofreading text
Prompt:
Proofread this, and list the error : I has a alot of dream in my mand, and I will try to accompany them
Result:
I have a lot of dreams in my mind, and I will try to achieve them.
The error in the original sentence is that “I has” should be “I have.” Additionally, “alot” should be spelled “a lot.”
And you can proofread article and polish it simultaneously. I found a English essay written by a Chinese elementary school student. Let’s proofread and polish it.
Prompt:
Proofread this article, and Polish it: Hi. My name isWang Haiyang! I am a boy . I come from Yi Ma China . I am nine years old . I am a student in ClassFour , GradeFour. I am tall.I have a big nose ,a wide mouth. My eyes are big .I have round face ,two big ears .I have short black hair . I am in a black cap andblue shoes .I am black shirt and a blackskirt. Translating
Sometimes, after we have written an article, it is difficult to translate it ourselves. We can let ChatGPT translate a version first and then we can make adjustments as necessary before publishing it.
Prompt:
translate blow lines to Chinese, Japanese, French and Korean:
After all, for this world, we are all too small, no matter how big your idea is, the world always operates according to its own rules. The sun also rises as usual every day, as long as the sun is still there, the energy will continue to enter the earth, the earth will not perish. The only thing we can do is do what we want to do, fulfill our little dreams, cheer up…
Result:
The limitations and problems of ChatGPT
Although ChatGPT is a very excellent language model, it also has some weaknesses and problems. First, its training is based on corpus, if there is a lack of certain information or knowledge in the corpus, ChatGPT may have problems in answering relevant questions. For example, if the corpus lacks some latest events or knowledge, ChatGPT may not be able to answer questions related to these events.
Secondly, as ChatGPT is a deep learning model, it has certain requirements for data volume and computing resources. If the data volume is not large enough or the computing resources are insufficient, the performance of ChatGPT may decrease, resulting in the generated answers of insufficient quality.
In addition, the answers of ChatGPT may have certain biases, because its training data comes from the real world and may be influenced by social biases. For example, if there is gender discrimination or racial discrimination information in the training data, the answers of ChatGPT may also have similar biases.
Even under the premise of sufficient and accurate corpus, ChatGPT currently does not have reasoning and logic abilities, so sometimes, the description of facts may also be wrong, pay attention when using it.
In short, although ChatGPT performs well in conversation, there are still some weaknesses and problems that need to be solved.
